Life As A Single Gal

This is the longest I've gone without Shawn since I met him. 10 days, and he isn't coming back till Sunday. I miss him, but it's also been an interesting experiment. Just in little things, like blowing through a whole lot of money because I don't have someone else to split money for groceries or to buy me drinks when we go out. And technically I have the whole bed to myself, but not really because I've been leaving all my discarded clothing on that side. I'm doing okay with cleaning, actually. It's easier to clean up just after yourself. And going out dancing at Exit when someone calls you at midnight, then collapsing in bed at 3AM without worrying about waking anyone up is kind of nice too, even though being able to collapse on someone and wake them up while you're tipsy and wearing your sexy clothes is pretty fun too.
Cooking has gone down the drain. I like cooking, and Shawn and I cook a lot, but it's hard to cook for yourself. So I've been buying little things at the local grocery instead of going to Trader Joe's, and I've been microwaving Amy's Spanikopita, and that's dinner. Except for the night I was PMSing and made a batch of chocolate stuff.
And the passenger side tire of my car needs air, but I don't know how to do it. I probably could, but I usually have a boyfriend to do that stuff for me. On Sunday when he comes home, I'll probably pull into a gas station and make him show me how to fill my own tires with air.
Having control of the Netflix is pretty fun. I just watched the first few episodes of the first season of Project Runway, and I'm in love. Actually, I think Shawn would probably like it too. He better. There's a whole other season to Netflix.
Yesterday I bought Goblet of Fire during a break at work (because I really need to be spending more money), and watched the first hour before falling asleep, and I got really excited that I recognized the villain as David Tennant, the current Dr. Who. So I paused the movie and called him right away to tell him because I knew he'd be excited too, and he was. Which made me miss him some more.
Girls night tonight! Drinking wine (or iced tea if you're carrying a baby inside you) and watching more Project Runway, then possibly going out for some dancing later on. Maybe I'll order a cosmopolitan and channel my inner Sex and the City single gal. Except I'll probably be at Exit or Neo and those aren't the type of places where you want to order a girly-pink drink. Rum and coke it is!

Date: 2006-09-21 11:35 pm (UTC)Definitely have him show you have to put air in your tires! If you have time as well, you may also want to learn how to change a tire. I went through a period where I have 8 flats over 3 years, including two where help was hard to come by.
Have fun at girls' night!
