das ist gut bier
Sep. 6th, 2005 12:35 pmAnd so begins me frantically getting ready for our party on Sat. Lots of cleaning, cooking and liquor-purchasing to do. At least now with our new dishwasher I don't have to worry about dishes anymore. *dances*
Unfortunately, when Shawn and I finally settled on a date, we had no idea that it was the same weekend as German Octoberfest, otherwise known to us as BeerFest. This is a twice a year festival (Octoberfest, which takes place in September, and Mayfest, which takes place in June), in which hordes of people descend on Lincoln Square, take up all the parking, drink giant plastic steins of beer, eat bratwurst, and leave all their trash on our steps. Wünderbar. We've never actually participated in this thing, and see it as nothing more than an annoyance. Like we don't have enough problems with drunks from living next to Leland Liquors...oh wait, I'm sorry, I mean Tar Bar.
The party is still on of course. I think it'll die down around the time people start getting here. All the same, if you live in the city, I highly recommend taking public transit that night. We're right off the Western Brown Line, which runs till 2AM. You can either crash here or we'll keep numbers for cabs handy. If you're driving...well, like I said, parking should be easier after ten. Just follow anyone whose wobbling towards their car and steal their spot.
I'll probably try buying as much stuff as I can tomorrow, so I don't have to move my car again this week. Stupid Germans.
