So my good friend Josh has come back from the land of Club Med Turks&Caicos island. He has traded in white sands and blue waters for gray skies and wind chill. We've been hanging out all week and I'd forgotten how much I missed him. Josh is one of those people where when you're with him, anything can happen, and even small minutia has a touch of strangeness to it.

1. His first day back we had lunch at the Daily Bar and then went into Lincoln Square shops. We were in Timeless Toys and this horrible woman started yelling at the staff because she didn't like the way her purchase was wrapped. It looked fine to me, but she seriously freaked out, saying, "I'm sorry, this isn't good enough," and something about the bag being too small, and the staff was very nice about it, but she accused them of having an attitude. I couldn't help it, years of working retail made me say, "Ma'am, I think you're the one with the attitude." She ignored me and continued harrassing the staff, telling the manager, "I can't believe I'm getting this much attitude from a toy store." One staff member said, "Neither of us gave you any attitude," and Josh piped in, "No you didn't, she said the wrapping wasn't good enough, and you said, 'Okay, what can we do to make it better for you.' It was clear as day." I love when people who are filled to the brim with attitude accuse everyone else of having it.

2. He took the train downtown to get a facial from me, and on the brown line someone went up to a person sitting in the way back (not the official handicapped seating) and said, "You have to move for me because I'm handicapped." The guy told him, "I don't have to move for you! You are not handicapped...look at you walking around and shit."

3. Last night at Neo Josh was talking to someone who can be classified as "cute but dumb." Every time there was a lull in the conversation he would say, "I just want to be free." He said this at least three times and Josh was like, "Um, yeah. Cheers to being free."

4. His indentured servitude to Club Med wasn't supposed to be up till April, but he really wanted to leave, so he went to his doctor and said, "I have really bad pain in my legs. I think it's from working. Some time off would probably help." So his doctor wrote a note, and now he's free to go back whenever he wants, if he wants.

We've missed you Josh, and your wicked wicked ways.

Free? Pah! I'll just settle for being relatively cheap!

Wait.....that didn't come out right.
